We recently had Carmel come in to run an SRC workshop with our students from Years 2–6 as well as School Leaders and it was such a fantastic, productive day.

The session was really well run and engaging for all age groups. Carmel  guided the students through a range of practical activities that helped them think about how to plan and organise school events as well as the requirements of being SRC representatives and leaders of our school.

The workshop was very hands-on and interactive, which kept the students involved the whole time. Carmel did a brilliant job of instilling the team mindset into students and by the end of the day, the students were familiar with each other and bouncing ideas of each other effectively. The students were encouraged to share their ideas, work together and think about what makes an event successful. It was great to see students of all ages contributing and feeling confident to speak up. Carmel established a calm, safe environment which helped the students feel at ease and comfortable to share their ideas and build on their capabilities.

Overall, it was a really valuable session and the students got a lot out of it (myself as a classroom teacher included!). They left feeling excited and motivated about planning future SRC events at school. We’d definitely recommend Carmel to other schools looking to support their student leaders. It was such an effective way of helping to structure, organise and provide purpose to the SRC role. I don't know what I would have done without Carmel's help!
